This team doesn't have the starting pitching or defense to contend for a wild card spot
I am just hoping this team stays competitive. IMO the wildcard is out of the question. Their starting pitching is definitely not consistent enough to mount that kind of streak.

The defense has sucked, and the offense is inconsistent. Kipnis, to me is a big disappointment. Swisher and Bourn, it goes without saying.

At this point, over .500 would be a nice result. The front office can be questioned for overestimating the starting pitching and not getting reinforcements for it.

I watched it. Same old story - Kluber, Brantley and Cody if we win. We need far more contributors than those few - with special mention to Gomes' good season.

Nice to see Jose Ramirez contribute today as well. Won't take much for him to contribute more than Asdrubal did - for whatever reason.

It was a good win, well needed and deserved by Kluber. However; if we want to be serious contenders for the wild card, more than 3 people have to hit the ball consistantly and more than 1 starting pitcher has to make it to the 5th inning.

Kinda glad football is starting.

Carrasco with his own 5 inning gem today. Lee took care of the 6th. 3 more relievers, or more, will be needed to finish the job.

Brantley natch with an RBI hit, an RBI sac fly for the first 2 scores. Then Kuroda walked Gomes to force in our 3rd run.
And as I type Gomes singles in number 4. His play has been up to expectations, after that early bought with soaring heaves to second.

Carrasco has it in him to be a solid starter, much more talented than Tomlin or House or probably McAllister. He's gotten past hitting guys and getting suspended. His April work as a starter was ineffective. Maybe the three months of excellent relief was abetted by some successful coaching.

Chisenhall who is once again the Chisenhall of old fanned to end the inning. Santana fanned in the middle with 2 on; he's back into a funk; for 10 days of April hitting 167.

Lee leaves and Atchison takes over. This has been Lee's best stay in Cleveland to date; it's only 2 games, maybe that's why; no hits 4 K in 3 innings. Overall I've been disappointed with his work this year. I expected him to be a solid piece, probably in the role Atchison or even Shaw has succeeded in. But he's part of a good bullpen depth. All we need are similar success with our starters.
