On another subject, I think it would be interesting if someone could take all the fantasy points from players on each team, add them up at the end of the season, and compare those standings with the real outcomes. In other words, did the Giants and Rangers have the most fantasy points last season, etc?

As to offense games, they are harder to fill, particularly at catcher. I say fill up as many games as you can early, when there are more off days, helps protect against an injury later. If you run out of games in September, so what? Everyone else moved on to football
I agree totally Don. Pile up position player games when you can.

So you not only need a backup at every position, but one who plays on different days than your starter. Do you figure all that out in your draft preparation? Plus you need to check the lineups for every game, which are not available until about a half hour early, then make the required changes.
JR - that's what makes guys who play lots of positions more valuable. IF they are playing on a Monday or Thursday, you can plug them in at the position you need most.
Obviously, if you check lineups after 6:00 or so on a weekday and see a guy not playing (an x next to the guy, like Grady has right now for today's game) that helps. I know a guy who sets his iPhone to go off at 6:30, then checks.

PS - obviously you can't look at the schedule and draft guys who play a lot on Mondays and Thursdays (haha, I guess you could).
But having guys on the roster who play multiple positions helps a lot to cover empty slots on Mondays and Thursdays.

TFIR: I've been trying to do that, but what if your backup guy isn't playing that night, either? And games start at all hours, not just 7 PM. (day games, games in different time zones) Today's game times are: 1, 1:05, 1:40, 2:10. 3:05, 4:05, 8:05. And that's just the AL. Plus, b/c it's Sunday, there is only one night game (ESPN) Otherwise, you could have 7, 8, 9, and 10 PM starts! Your friend's iPhone alarm will be ringing all day!

Well, you CAN remember that all other managers have the same problem....hehehe.
I'll tell you this, TODAY I am benching all my Cleveland and Seattle players right now!!

Remember, position players don't score that many points per game anyways.
AND, you can also roster more position backups and less pitching backups.

Detroit vs KC are cancelled too, pull all those guys.
It CAN pay to have lots of bench backups, and less excess pitchers.

Rainouts shouldn't cause that much of a problem, b/c those games will eventually be made up.

I haven't seen that the Indians game is PPD yet. They are honoring Lenny Barker today, and are supposed to show all the innings he pitched in his perfect game on the scoreboard, after the game is over (while kids get to run the bases.) But it is a miserable day here, rainy and COLD!

Yeah, I am taking Tribe and Seattle players out as a precaution.
But a lot of games are going to be lost today, so only so much you can do.

True, but if you can cover that slot with another player today, AND have that game made up later on TOO, all the better, an extra game there.

I'm not doing too bad. I am a total of -8 now, and you are -4. But Titans is already -55! And DONNA is -48!

btw, it still ticks me off when I see my players totals go down by .5 for striking out. An out is an out.

The biggest missed games are at the fielding positions. For example, I'm behind 5 at SS right now. I am much more worried about that than UTIL.
I don't have enough time to check lineups at 6 everyday. Usually eating dinner with family or getting ready for coach pitch by then. Maybe thats why I never win in these leagues!
