We won 2 on Sunday. Masterson has still not been scored on. CC Lee struggled to end his game. I don't think he'll make the team.

Too bad because when I watched him pitch, he has good movement and a sneaky delivery. Eventually I think and hope he makes it.

I expect Lee will be the first man back from Columbus and he could be an important long-time reliever. He has options available, so there's no reason to force him into the pen if he's not quite sharp at the moment.

Nice work yesterday by Vinnie P and CC Lee: each fanned 3 in his one inning.

Carrasco was terrible today; poor command; lots of hits; he was scheduled to go 5 innings and was pulled after 2 2/3. Drew Pomeranz is on his 3rd team and went 3 scoreless innings for the A's.
Carlos was back behind the plate. His lousy offense continues, due I assume to his concentration on his defense. Since he can be a real anchor member of the offense, maybe he'd be better with just one position and/or being the DH.
Salazar was not scored on in his 3 2/3.
Gionanni Soto retired one man to end the 4th.
Shawn Armstrong and Toru Murata were shelled in relief.
Raburn got in to the game as DH.
Lindor had a couple hits but botched a grounder while Carrasco was out there which was generously called a double.
Chisenhall charged with two errors, on fielding and one throwing.

Thanks Civ. I saw all those runs scored in the latter half of the game, and assumed it was Salazar who got shelled.

Actually, Carlos' offense is still continuing from winter ball. You wonder how Erik Gonzalez could rake yet Santana couldn't hit a lick and they were both on the same team (Escogido) albeit Erik played the first half and Carlos played the second half.

Let's hope there is not some kind of ailment holding him back.

Cleveland Indians back Justin Masterson with 16 hits in 14-3 win over Rockies

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Justin Masterson allowed his first runs of spring training Friday, but the Indians still cruised to another Cactus League victory.

The Indians, behind Michael Brantley's three hits and three RBI, pounded Colorado, 14-3, at Salt River Fields. They are 16-5-2 in the desert this spring.

Masterson (3-0, 0.95) went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, with six strikeouts and two walks. He entered the game with 13 scoreless innings in four spring starts.

The Indians finished with 16 hits. Brantley and Nyjer Morgan each drove in three runs. Brantley singled home a run in the third and doubled home two in the sixth. Morgan had a three-run double in the eighth.

The two runs Masterson allowed came on wild pitches with Yan Gomes behind the plate. Justin Morneau, who doubled to start the second, scored on a wild pitch. In the fifth, D.J. LeMahieu scored on another.

Lonnie Chisenhall and Elliot Johnson drove in two runs each for the Tribe.

Brantley is hitting .500 (17-for-34) with seven RBI in 18 games this spring.

“I think he wishes he could bottle this and start the season,” said manager Terry Francona. “He feels really good.”

Carrasco was decent on Monday. Held the fort for 5 solid innings, some runs and hits in the 6th but didn't completely implode. I am sure he'll make the staff somewhere; since McAllister and maybe Kluber are hardly yet established starters we need Carrasco at least as depth if not in the rotation to begin with. Tomlin's maturity probably makes him a better immediate fit but he's probably also able to cope with a demotion and be ready to return with one of the 5 goes on the DL or pitches too badly to keep in the rotation.

Wood was solid again, Atchison too. I like Wood's hard stuff for the pen. I don't trust Pestano yet.

Tomlin not off to good start: Choo singles, Andrus singles, Beltre singles, 2 runs score (partly because a Johnson throw to third to try to nail Choo let Andrus go to second; Johnson then does nail Beltre with help from Swisher on the cutoff). 1-2-3 second inning for Josh.

Choo leads off the third with a double. He;s a pretty good leadoff man.

But Tomlin leaves him aboard; and it's 2-0 Rangers middle of the second.
