I got his first name, but it hardly matters, he'll probably never play for us
Chase DeLauter update
will miss at least the first half of the 2023 season after having surgery to replace a screw in the fifth toe on his left foot, the same injury that sidelined him in 2022.

Past week's BA Hot Sheet
5. Gavin Williams, RHP, Guardians
Team: Double-A Akron (Eastern)
Age: 23
Why He’s Here: 0-0, 0.00, 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 SO, 0 HR
The Scoop: Williams dominated again in his latest Double-A start, allowing just one hitter to reach base on Thursday as he struck out eight. Over three starts with Akron in 2023, Williams has allowed just a single earned run on six hits and three walks to go along with 20 strikeouts. The Guardians top prospect should likely reach Triple-A shortly, where he’ll join fellow standout righthander Tanner Bibee. Williams’ fastball has averaged 96-97 mph this season and has touched 99.5 mph at peak, and he pairs it with an above-average slider, a changeup and a curveball. (GP)

12. Junior Caminero, 3B, Rays WE TRADED HIM TO TAMPA FOR THE MISERABLE PITCHER TOBIAS MYERS we could USE A RH BAT WITH POWER LIKE THIS
Team: High-A Bowling Green (South Atlantic)
Age: 19
Why He’s Here: 308/.333/.692 (8-for-26), 6 R, 1 2B, 3 HR, 8 RBIs, 0 BB, 9 SO, 1 SB, 1 CS.
The Scoop: Caminero is currently hitting .373. That’s actually the lowest batting average he’s had all season, as he was hitting .500 eight games into the season. Caminero is yet another prospect in the Rays’ never-ending assembly line of hitters who hit the ball exceptionally hard. His ultimate position is still a little uncertain, as he may stick at third base, but he has the power to handle right field as well. His combination of youth and power potential is alluring. (JC)

Cantillo with 0.79 ERA today for Akron. Columbus soon? stillonly up to 72 AA innings and he's on a limited pitch count; 4 1/3 innings is his longest outing in 3 starts
fellow lefty Ryan Webb 3.00 ERA today for Lake County
Columbus doesn't have anyone available and Lynchburg never announces ahead of time

Our top 10 prospect list will be in for a nearly complete makeover by the end of this year.
Brennan may have used up his rookie eligibility status already.
If things so well, so will Allen and Bibee and likely Gavin Williams
No one would be surprised if we see a few months of Bo Naylor
That would account for 5 graduates from the prospect list.
Daniel Espino might keep a spot way down the list as a great talent with little likelihood of ever making the majors.
OFs George Valera and C. DeLauter are both missing large chunks of this year and certainly won't be rising on the list.
The only 2 left from the top 10 are Bryan Rocchio who is likely to be No. 1 if he's not another graduate; and Amgel Martinez who is having an indifferent debut in Akron.
The current second ten include another couple injured pitchers: Justin Campbell and Cody Morris.
There's no one in our system outside AAA who is having an overwhelming debut but some solid candidates for advancement would include
Petey Halpin who is very young for AA and holding his own;
Joey Cantillo who has had a healthy start for Akron and could even reach the majors if he clicks and/or Lefty desparation sets in
Angel Geona and Jaison Chourio teenage prospects with big talent and tiny resumes
Jhonkennsy Noel who at his high end could become a Jason Aguillar, and at his low end any number of power prospects who fizzle out
2b/of Jake Fox who looked good last year, but not this
2b Juan Brito pickup for Nolan Jones in Class A
RHP Jack Leftwich quickly reached AA and is a Keith Law favorite
very young RHP Jacob Zibin who probably won't pitch beyond the Arizona summer league so won't have mcuh oportunity to show off his stuff
2022 draftees who can hit for average, for double power and can run: OF Joe Lampe now in Lake County; 2b Furman and OF Lipscomb;
and Lynchburg International draftees with varied skills: OF W. Antunez IF Juan Benjamin IF Devers
As a fan of the minors, it's sometimes fun to try to guess the top of the prospect list; there's been little challenge recenntly

Super game by Joey Cantllo for Akron 13 strikeouts in 5 innings,
He should rapidly follow Gavin Williams to Columbus. And could be ready for Cleveland this summer, adding to the "never too much starting pitching" to offset the "not nearly enough run scoring"

So, the Run drought is not just at the Major League level?
WTF is going on?

That was a particularly bad offensive day in the minors. Overall I think they've been scoring as much as any of their peers.
what is lacking in the minors as l with the big leaguers is power. I can look at the home run figures on stat lines but I don't believe anyone other than Bo Naylor has as many as 5 homers. Perhaps Collins in Columbus does too.
Lynchburg has a crazy stolen base total, averaging a couple a game and have had nights with 8 or maybe more.
