As someone who watches the Mets quite a bit I do know quite a bit about Rosario and Gimenez. So does NY Post reporter Joel Sherman.
For starters, Gimenez replaced Rosario last September as the SS and their defense improved quite a bit. The Mets loved his baseball IQ and that was confirmed today (on MLB Network) by Joel Sherman who called his baseball IQ "off the charts."
Sherman also pointed out that Rosario has crazy talent, hence his high prospect status, but nowhere near the baseball IQ and disposition as Gimenez.
Sherman said that Gimenez should be the SS in Cleveland. He saw Rosario as a utility type player with high offensive upside.
Also, I do know that many in NY thought that Rosario was labeled a superstar at SS very early in NY and that affected him. This is New York we are talking about - many a good player did not thrive there.
A move to a place where no one knows who he is could be a great starting over.
