Don't think we'll be making any offers until the spring and pick from leftovers.

Well guys it usually takes a lot to take me out of optimistic mode but (for me) it's time to stick a fork in 2021 as far as contention goes for the Tribe.
YES - even in the AL Central.
I mean, the KC Royals sign Carlos Santana to a 2 year deal??
But more importantly the White Sox trading for Lance Lynn gives them a rotation up there with the Tribe! And heaven knows the White Sox have an actual lineup full of actual hitters - young hitters maturing.
They are now the favorite in the Central and those Twins have an actual lineup too. The Tribe, at best fighting it out for .500 and 3rd place in the Central is my prognosis.
PS - the Tribe knows this. JP Morosi said this morning that he thinks a Carrasco trade is even MORE likely than a Lindor trade!!

Never a doubt that Carrasco will be traded. I still think that there will be a trade that no one expects. I think there will be a discussion on whether Carrasco or Lindor brought back the best players.
Still think Ramirez is in play because he would bring back more than Lindor. Strip it down. Perez and the pitchers and youth !

Imagine a trade where BOTH Lindor and Carrasco go to Toronto.
BTW when Ross Atkins was interviewed this morning on MLB Network he in NO WAY disputed the interest in Lindor. In fact he pointed out their (Shapiro and himself) love for the Indians' front office AND Lindor.
Often you will see a GM in that situation pooh pooh a rumor like that. He did not do that.

Every time I think a trade is coming that will bring back equal talent I have to smack myself on the forehead and say "It's the MONEY, stupid"
Carrasco will be a money dump.

Carrasco will be a money dump but he will bring back an equal amount of potential player. All you can ask for right now.

Rule 5 draft is Thursday
I guess we can't pick since our roster filled to 40 when we added 5 to the roster Dropping 3 since apparently doesn't let us draft tomorrow
Who could we lose? Possibilities could be OF Oscar Gonzalez noted by BA last year and agsin this RHP Luis Oviedo who had a great 2018 not so great in 2019 OF Will Benson great power and impressive defender Struggles to hit 200

I believe Seagull is correct. I think the Indians made sure that they were not able to sign anyone. Gives you an idea how bad the financial situation actually is.

Rule 5 is the cheapest way to scoop up some medium reward low risk talent.

Don't forget a rule 5 draftee costs the club about $700K. 100K to the other team and 600k minimum MLB salary for the year.
