This is his pre-draft scouting report

There must be something in DeLucia’s blood that craves the big moments. The righthander first put his name on the national scouting scene as a rising junior, when he helped an underclass Canes Prospects team win a WWBA World Championship in 2017. Five years later, DeLucia once again pushed a team to a championship—this spring it just happened to be with Mississippi in Omaha. DeLucia was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player after throwing a nine-inning, four-hit shutout against Arkansas to push the Rebels to the CWS. DeLucia pitched two seasons with Northwest Florida JC before transferring to Mississippi.

He started the spring in the bullpen but eventually worked his way into the rotation and in total posted a 3.68 ERA over 95.1 innings with 105 strikeouts (25.9 K%) and 26 walks (6.4 BB%). A stocky, 6-foot-1, 205-pound pitcher, DeLucia primarily works off a fastball/slider combo. His fastball sits in the low 90s and touches 94-95, with good running life and carry, as well as a flat vertical approach angle. He throws a high-spin slider in the low 80s and it flashes hard and sharp turn at its best and was the most consistent swing-and-miss offering for DeLucia this spring. His mid-80s changeup was used less than 10% of the time this spring and is primarily an off-speed offering for lefthanded hitters, with fade and arm side run, but he needs to improve his control of the pitch.

Did you ever hear of a store in Youngstown called Hartzell Rose & Sons? My wife is a Rose.

I believe there was a store in downtown Girard !

that was in downtown Youngstown, wasn't it? I think it may have closed shortly before I moved to town in 78 or soon after; the department stores, Strouss and McKelvey's were both still open and some other retail remained for awhile.
Maybe they Girard store too?

Lots of people are From Youngstown.
Some of us have actually moved To Youngstown.
There's new downtown development with a bunch of restaurants and a couple museums a hotel and some downtown housing.

Headquarters was the downtown Youngstown store. I believe the company closed in 1970. I believe the Girard store was next to Dr Harvey Block's office and across the street from the Wellman theater.

I knew a Harvey Flock in Cleveland Heights when I was kid, but not Harvey Block

Eye doctor in Girard. Caddied for him a few times at Squaw Creek C C.

If you caddied at Squaw Creek you probably knew the fathers of some people I know

Caddied at Squaw Creek for many years. (10+) Use to hitchhike up Churchhill and then out Belmont. Use to be an all day job.

Halpin could be a good OF. I am curious how high he ranks on BA’s next 20
He seems to have promise in all the relevant categories. Speed. Power. Selectivity Defense. They of course rsnk DeLauter higher since he was a first round pick; my impression is unfairly skewed by are his surface similarities to Zimmer but not all tall hitters can’t control the strike zone. Aaron Judge has done ok

Zimmer 6-4 185. DeLauter a much thicker 6-4 235. Hard to imagine he can have Zimmers speed on bases or in the outfield

A positive difference DeL is known for his plate discipline. In college walked than he struck out
But a scary Zimmer similarity: scouts say his swing can get too long

Cleveland #Guardians have signed 28-year-old LHP Caleb Baragar to a minor league contract for the 2023 season with an invite to MLB spring training. Baragar spent the 2022 season in the D-Backs organization and last pitched in the majors back in 2021 with the Giants.
