The big bats got their first look at the whirling dervish today in Goodyear. Darvish had some control problems and the big bats took advantage with 11 big hits and 9 walks to score 8 big runs against Texas pitching. 8 runs should be enough to win but the Tribe pitching matched the Rangers in giving up 8 runs.
The awsome weather continued today as I whirled around the golf course with no 8s in sight.

Come on, you know that is not accurate.
We have way more than 25 in camp, and Manny Acta in the first 10 days is trying to get everyone a chance at a look or a cup of coffee.
Our key guys have had some good strokes. Our pitchers are working out the kinks.
It's foolish to panic until the roster is about set and the first 40 regular season games have been played.
Until 40, all things are possible.

I'd need a couple duff balls in my bag to hit off the tee for that one. Sheesh.

I donated 2 balls to the pond gods tonight. The balls I donated were part of my stash that I scoop out of the pond. The pond giveth and the pond taketh away.

Putter + Cart Path == no lost balls!
I might card a 17, but damnit, I can play the hole with only one ball!

Smoke signals
• Outfielder Felix Pie, who crashed hard into a center-field wall on Sunday, will be available to play on Wednesday. Manager Manny Acta said Pie (neck stiffness) was actually cleared to play on Tuesday, but the team decided to take a cautious approach.
• Acta said that first baseman Casey Kotchman remains day to day with tightness in his lower back. Kotchman indicated on Tuesday morning that he was feeling much improved over the past two days.
• Closer Chris Perez is scheduled to throw long toss from a distance of 150 feet on Wednesday morning. If everything goes well, he could resume throwing off a mound in a few days. "He's following his schedule to a 'T' and everything is going accordingly," Acts said.
• Relievers Rafael Perez (sore left shoulder) and Robinson Tejeda (strained right calf) continue to make progress in their throwing programs. Perez threw a bullpen session on Monday and is slated to throw in a live batting-practice session in the next few days. Tejeda threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
• The Indians will be featured as part of MLB Network's "30 Clubs in 30 Days" Spring Training tour on Wednesday. The one-hour show will air at 5 p.m. ET.

You duffers will love this. My son's house is right on the edge of the Golf Course in Fort Smith, Ar. It is like less that 50ft from the back door. My son (16 in May) & my grandson (12) go out a gather up golf balls then go up to the club house & sell them back to the golfers. Can not believe it but they average about $2.50 per ball.

Roberto was pitching well this winter in his limited appearances. It looks like the community service stint is going well. I'd like to see number 55 back in Cleveland very soon.

The big bats slept again today producing 2 runs in 10 innings without a RBI. The butterfly effect from the Tribe's 14 whiffs produced a gentle breeze on my golf course today.
On the positive side, Tribe pitching was outstanding. Lowe had his good stuff and Scott Barnes looked awesome in the ninth inning throwing 9 pitches....all swinging strikes.
Saw David Riske do the same thing in a game in Winter Haven a few years ago.
2 runs allowed should be enough to win most games but when you have a team with no big bats, its tough to win.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. --
Left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz will not need directions to the Indians' complex. The Minor League pitcher has been there plenty of times.
On Thursday, the Indians acquired De La Cruz from the Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. Texas landed the lefty for the same on Feb. 21 after Cleveland designated him for assignment.
To clear a spot on their 40-man roster for De La Cruz, the Indians placed right-hander Carlos Carrasco on the 60-day disabled list. Carrasco is expected to miss most or all of the 2012 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
