Kerrville TX
About 60 miles west of San Antonio.
Storms came through earlier so the Best Western intermet is offline. I'm here late via iPhone and ATT.
Looks like we'll stay in LA tomorrow night.
Louisiana, that is.

Loufla and HB...
I initially planned to rent a 16 foot Penske truck and load myself. I packed tractor trailers via forklift for a college job and I know I can safely includr more things for less than using moving companies.
I thought I had a steal getting a truck to go one way from the San Francisco area to SW FL for $1600, unlimited mileage. I budgeted gas at about an an additional $1600. For kicks I later went to website asking movers to bid on the move. We boxed most all but the furniture, but they picked up and will deliver for $4,000 turnkey. Pretty sweet, so I bit.
So far, so good.
Unfortunately, each night we check into a motel on our tandem cross country drive I have to unload my pickup truck of things my wife forgot to give the movers. I should take a pic. The stuff on the truck when loaded includes two patio chairs locked upright on file boxes of my wife's clothes and academic papers.
I told her I feel like Jethro Bodine.
Chairs in the back, and the dog in the front.

Tonight we are in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
I had Crawdad Bisque as an appetizer for my Gulf Shrimp Etoufee.
Reading the assorted newswires tonight, sounds like John Travolta could have possibly had a thing for Beau Bridges, had they ever met.
I've always liked Kelly Preston and John Travolta as entertainers.
I suspect I still will going forward.

I'm a gambler and I'll once more offer that I do not like the "easy to get to" casino thing.
For the most part, little casinos are just a major funnel of cash and taxes from the fringes of the middle class who might occasionally "gamble" on slot machines.
Those are the folks these casino's need to win from.

I went to a Jerry Seinfeld show in Helena last night. That guy is still absolutely hilarious. My face is still sore from smiling and laughing all evening. But anyway, just wanted to mention that he said he is working on a new TV show. He wouldn't give any details but said look for it.
Great news for us Seinfeld fans!
By the way, a comedian named Mark Schiff opened up for Seinfeld. I had never heard of him but he was great. He was every bit as funny just didn't stay on the stage nearly as long. If he comes to a club near you I would recommend.

I went to the dog track here to wager on The Preakness with my daughter, my wife, my daughter's boyfriend, his parents and assorted young friends of theirs.
My wife and daughter touted my prowess at handicapping so I was asked for my thoughts by all.
I offered that I treated the big races differently and would be shooting for a lottery score, and suggested no one follow my bets.
I told them that my true gut was that I'll Have Another and Bodiemeister would run 1-2, but I was going to box the 3 and the 6 with the field and hope for a high paying upset.
Our daughter's boyfriend's mother bought a $50 win ticket on I'll Have Another, and a $50 exacta box on the 7 & 9.
She bought drinks for all after the race.
Turns out the only losers after me touting the winners were me and my daughter.
My daughter followed my wager, after I told her she shouldn't. Personal pride in that she knows I'm pretty good at this, but not totally happy that I told all not to pay attention to my wagering aspect as I was looking to the equivalent of drawing to an inside straight flush.

The recent Seinfeld syndicated reruns I've seen have featured Jerry with his parents in the over 55 communities in Florida. Close to home subject matter now.
Tonight the Criminal Minds local rerun starred George from Seinfeld, in a totally different character than what he played in the sitcom.
There are not many current acts or groups I would pay going prices to see personally, but Seinfeld is one, for sure.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary today.
We've been pretty busy with the 3,000 mile move and now we are in a condo with sparse furnishings as we await the moving truck with our stuff from California. We have our 15 year old dog who has been a trooper all the way, and learned new tricks involving not having a dog door for the first time in her life. I have my folding South Carolina Gamecock chair and another camping chair in our living room, and a 13 inch TV that I only had on my truck for the drive because I refused to pay $28 to dispose of it in Califrickinfornia.
Thursday afternoon I drove from Bonita Springs, Florida to Columbia, South Carolina to close on the real estate deal for the sale of my old South Carolina farmhouse.
Friday I drive most of the way back, but got a hotel in Haines City so I could put the lawyer's check from the closing in a Bank of America in Winter Haven on Saturday morning.
I drove by Andy's, and Manny's Chop House.
Immediately after arriving back in Bonita Springs I fed and walked the 15 year old dog, then dashed to the track to eventually place a losing wager.
It was all in all a great day, but I was pretty tired.
Last evening I confessed to my wife that I had not prepared for our anniversary with my normal aplomb. I offered I could take her to the Thomas Edison Museum and Home in Fort Myers, with dinner and drinks and a sunset walk on the beach afterwards. She retorted that she thought I had devised a fine plan, and even possibly pretended to enjoy the day today upon conclusion.
My wife and the dog are now both soundly asleep.
I'm watching Midnight in Paris for about the 6th time. My wife has watched the Johnny Depp Pirates of the Caribbean movies way more. I have the Starz channels for free for a year from Comcast, largely I think because they thought I might be a raving lunatic after expressing great dismay over multiple required calls and trips to eventually get our cable and internet functioning correctly.
In all the cable turmoil, I thought about satellite and The NFL Package, but then recalled The Browns Backers bar here is on the water at Fort Myers Beach. No way am I going to miss THAT next fall. MY wife and I gave the bar a test run today, and it was great.
As the day ends, I remember once more I married a great girl who is happy with last minute improvisation of big day events for us, and can be happy with a trip to a museum and historical place.
I always remind her of notable people who were from Ohio. It's an ongoing humorous thing with us.
Thomas Edison, of course, was born in Ohio.

Welcome to Bonita TFIR! After you get settled and have slept enough and are willing we will set up a place to meet and have a brewsky. I dont do the Dog track much unless out of town guests are here but I could be coerced to watch you ply your skills.

I went to that bar to watch a game a couple years back, can't remember the name of it....may not be the same one even....I want to say I was visiting the wife at her folks place in Ft. Meyers when I was home for my 2 week R&R during my year long deployment back in 07. Can't remember which game, I wanna say we lost to the Broncos. I do remember decent priced pitchers and a cute, enhanced curly headed barmaid who flirted with my wife more than me. Hence I paid little attention to game.

I plan on being down there (in Sarasota) in October, and again in March. Maybe we can have a mini forum reunion then.
