iF ANYONE remembers Jason Fitzgerald, a 2nd or 3rd round draft choice who never showed a lot and ended his career in Akron, here's an update I ran across:
Jason Fitzgerald of Fort Mill, SC orginally hails from Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Jason Fitzgerald attended Tulane University where he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 1st round. He went on to enjoy his professional baseball career for 6 years. He has since retired and moved on to the Real Estate world. Jason has been involved in Real Estate for 2 years. Also, he enjoys buying distressed houses and making them look beautiful. After Hurricane Katrina, Jason and his wife, Jessica, settled in lovely Fort Mill, SC. He can be reached at 704-516-3121

Watching a guy named John Gaub pitch for the Cubs, and he looks good in his major league debut. Struck out one Red, then retired Votto on a grounder, then got a pop fly from Bruce to complete the 1-2-3 inning.
Anyone remember this guy? He was traded for Mark DeRosa.

Cubs recalled LHP John Gaub from Triple-A Iowa.
Gaub, who was acquired in the Mark DeRosa deal in December 2008, posted a 3.42 ERA, seven saves and a 75/40 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. The 26-year-old southpaw has averaged 5.8 BB/9 in the minors, so he is unlikely to be an impact arm at the major league level.

I have been waiting around for the Cubs to promote Gaub. The fact that they didn't until rosters enlarged must mean that they're not excited. Always been a very big strikeout to IP ratio although the walks come a little too frequently. Of the 3 we dealt for DeRosa Jeff Stevens has failed to catch on in the majors, the last I saw he was back in AA, Chris Archer has been traded again to Tampa after being the No. 1 preseason prospect for the Cubs but also has command inconsistency,he's only 22; Gaub is 26 so he's not a super prospect but could be a useful reliever.
Gaub was apparently a top pitcher at U of Minn, but arm problems made him drop to the lower rounds of the draft. He was a breakout pick of mine a few year ago, but then was traded.

RHP Hector Rondon will continue his rehab from Tommy John by pitching in Parallel League. RHP Alexander Perez will pitch there too.
Former Rule 5 pick and rehabbing RHP Hector Ambriz to pitch for #Indians in AZ in the advanced Instructional League (Parallel League).

Indians continue to deplete Columbus bullpen for the playoff finals. Judy and Hagadone were already up. Then they promoted Putnam yesterday. And dfa'd Rice, the kid they signed last week, not sure why they didn't add anyone to the 40-man roster, unless they're opening a space for Chen Lee. Lee is still with the Clippers. And Ryan Langwell. Corey Burns promoted last week. Kelvin de la Cruz was promoted yesterday and pitched a scoreless inning Tuesday night.

Clippers blogger writes a good playoff summary and concludes with the best logic to support his guess that Lehigh wins in 5 games:
And, I’m going to stick with the rationale I used in the first round: if this series goes five games, I have to give the edge to Lehigh Valley simply by virtue again of “The Kluber Factor”: I’ve seen Corey Kluber pitch seven or eight times this year, and he’s been pretty bad almost every time out. If this goes five games and he has to start that pivotal Game 5, I can’t see him bringing it home.
