Was it a swing and a miss or a foul off his wrist?

With virtually all our important players having spent significant time on the IL we have the best record at this point in the season since 1999. Remarkable.

Maybe Brad Miller would like to come back now.
In reality, we have Freeman who's not a very good fielder and I think he's definitely not a 3B although he's hit surprisingly well; we have Chang who has hit rather well since he returned from his stint on the AAA IL, and that's all we have.
Would have been a good year to make a waiver deal, but that's no longer an option

there's always Carlos Santana who is a willing volunteer to play anywhere to help the team. He played 19 games at 3rd for the Phillies last year. 26 games at 3rd for the Tribe in 2014.
We have plenty of options for 1b if Carlos were to shift across the diamond with Bauers and Bradley both available.

seagull - a swing and miss

I will say this, just a couple weeks ago I saw the exact same thing with Nelson Cruz and he went to the IL. But he came back 10 days later and is hitting fine and playing every day.

So we will see.

Ooop, now we see. It's a fracture, that's different than Cruz.

Jose Ramirez on the 10-day injured list with a fractured hamate bone in his right hand.

Yikes. Ramirez suffered the injury on a swing during Saturday's game and will have surgery on Monday in New York.
The Indians will know more about a timetable after the operation, but Ramirez is almost surely done for the regular season.

It's a shame, as Ramirez had turned his season around over the last two months. Yu Chang will take his spot on the roster and figures to share time at third base with Mike Freeman.

First time I've heard of someone breaking a bone swinging a bat.

Carrasco is pitching for AAA Columbus again today. The plan is now to activate him September 1st in Tampa when rosters expand. If everything stays OK this week.

Get this ... Danny Salazar is actually pitching an inning in Akron tonight, on yet another rehab assignment.

Bradley Zimmer is playing for Columbus tonight.

Jordan Luplow and Jefry Rodriguez will be playing for Columbus tomorrow.

Dan Otero and Carlos Carrasco will be pitching for Columbus Wednesday.

Actually, let me fix that. Danny Salazar has already pitched an inning for Akron tonight. 3 up 3 down. 1 K. 8 pitches, 6 strikes.

I didn't hear about it till it was too late so didn't get to watch. Don't know if he was able to throw harder than 88.

last chance for Tito to operate with a 40 man roster. He'll immediately add 2 to his bullpen, that gives him 10. Is Olson rehabbing? He'll probably add Josh Smith and I suppose Jon Edwards although neither has done much at the major league level. Have seen nothing about AJ Cole rehab. Tito could be satisfied with a mere dozen relievers. I suppose Danny Salazar is worth bringing in to try to reduce his $/inning ratio which for the season is currently $1.125 million.
Ultimately I imagine that Bauers and Bradley and Haase will all return; Zimmer and I hope Luplow is ready. I'd like to see Dennis Johnson and possible Ka'ai who had terrific half seasons in AAA after excellent half seasons in AA. Although not sure if there'd be at bats for all those guys.

Jose Ramirez had successful surgery yesterday and has been told he will miss 5 to 7 weeks.

Likely done for regular season. Might make it back if we make playoffs.

As far as call ups, Otero, Carrasco, and Olsen are all rehabbing now and will be added to pen. Maybe Salazar too now, but who friggin knows with that guy.

Jefry Rodriguez walked 2, gave up 1 hit and 1 run in 1.2 IP.

Zimmer 1-3

Luplow 0-2

Salazar is going to pitch again this week then the Indians are going to decide what to do with him.
