I guess that's something.

Corey Kluber (arm) will throw his first bullpen session on Wednesday.

It's going to be an all-fastball workout of around 20 pitches. Kluber is finally ready to begin ramping up his rehab, now 10 weeks removed from suffering a displaced fracture of his right ulna. The veteran starter could return to the Indians' rotation sometime in mid-August.

Pretty impressive but I think Corey is smart enough not to overdo it. Mid August seems pretty soon

One thing that hasn't been talked about worthy of a mention is how good Naquin has been lately. Last night he had his 4th straight multi-hit game. He is hitting .448 in July. He had his 8th homer last night, not bad for only 179 at bats. You average that out over a full season and you'd be between 25 and 30 homers. (if he can ever play a full season. Always something barking with him)

It is a damn shame he never walks. If he did he could be a really good hitter. But dude wakes up swinging in the morning.

Andre Knott reporting during pregame ...

Kluber threw 20 fastballs in bullpen today. He is going to throw another bullpen in a couple days.

Salazar is going to make another start for Akron in 4 days, then team is going to take it from there. They have to bring him up 30 days after he made his second Arizona League start, which was on July 5th.

(Why not 30 days from his first rehab start, which was June 30th? That is a new one on me)

Naquin seems to have established as a Lonnie Chisenhall quality at-least platoon regular. His one offensive flaw is still the low number of walks; only 9 this season which keeps his OBP low and keeps him at the bottom of the batting order.

Corey Kluber (arm) completed a 20-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday.

Francona told reporters that the session went "really good," and that everyone came out smiling after the session.

The right-hander is recovering from a fracture of his right ulna, and has been out of commission since the beginning of May with the injury.

Another bullpen session will come Sunday, and if that goes well, a rehab start could be coming for Kluber soon. He's still on track to return to the Indians' rotation in the middle of August.

Probably returns before Salazar

These days training staffs are ultra conservative so I don't doubt Kluber is more than ready to move on in his recovery.

Going to be sooo interesting to see if the team is able to make a deal for Bauer that doesn't hinder us too much this season but still help put in a piece or pieces for the future - a la Tampa trading Chris Archer.

They got back Glasnow and Austin Meadows. That was crazy successful, unrealistic to replicate, but that's the template.

Thanks for mentioning Meadows, I was going to note when I remembered that he and Clint Frazier were kind of equivalents in their draft year, came from neighboring high schools, and both with outstanding ceilings. Meadows has reached it. Frazier remains a solid prospect Needs a chance to play everyday somewhere and not run into any more walls.

I'm pretty sure I would do Frazier even up for Bauer although the Yanks would likely have to throw in more.

Fits the bill of a RH slugger, young.

Maybe a return to the organization would give him a "Carlos Santana" effect.

Yeah, think about it. Tampa traded Chris Archer, definitely not Bauer, for Tyler Glasnow and Meadows.

That is how you both get younger and better.

In fairness though, Archer had 3 more relatively affordable, years left on his contract. Might even things out.

I’d prefer to ship Bauer to NL if we trade him, but if Yanks wanted to do a do-over in the Miller trade and send us Frazier, Sheffield, and my old buddy JP Feyereisen I would definitely consider that.

Feyereisen is a hard throwing righty I used to love in our system. I would love to see him paired up with Karinchak and Hand for near future.

Good point on the control with Archer.

But same point on the Miller trade, he fetched that kind of return because of the control on him.

The Yankees don't have to blink on Bauer's "one year contracts" policy. They could re-up him forever like that, they might even like that. Seriously, they could just dump him if he gets injured or starts sucking like many of their long term guys ended up doing (Ellsbury the present example of that)
