You're right. I hope he bounces back to 09 level and then polishes off the rough edges

Everyone loses again, except Arizona. In fact the 5 teams above Arizona scored a grand total 8 runs. As noted there's no water in this well.

Some good pitching lines:

Lee 2/3 nothing but 1 k.
Bryan Price 2 2/3 1 hit 2.89 in AA
Chris Jones 3 innings 1 hit 2 K.
STAR OF THE DAY: Felix Sterline 6 shutout innings in LC, 4 hits, 7 K, 1 walk.
Will Roberts 6 innings 3 hits no walks 7 K 1 earned run nearly as good in MHV
Homblert 6 shutout 1 hut 1 walk 5 K in Arizona. M Carmona 3 shutout 1 hit no K

But Rayl 4 9 6 6 2 3
Hagadone 2/3 2 hits 2 earned runs

Hitting? Huffman 3 hits, Valbuena 2. None in Akron. Abraham HR 14 in Kinston. Captains with 4 hits in 12 inings. Romero HR 6 in Arizona. They won becasue some grownups are rehabbing there: Crowe double, 2 walks. Bo Greenwell two hits, walks, 3 bi, batting 1.000 in two games.

LRod 3K, LWash 2k for Captains. Chen down to 253, Henry 249 for Aeros.

The winning pitcher vs. Akron: Chuck Lofgren. Remmeber when he was a big prospect for the Tribe.

Two winners, 3 losers Friday. But since the Arizona team's offensive explosion was keyed by Trevor Crowe and Bo Greenwell on rehab, that really shouldn't count. Some offensive notes:

AAA Valbuena and Fedroff 2 hits each. Beau Mills hitless is at 220
AA Chen out of his slump with 3 singles. Juan Diaz 2 hits. John Drennen 3 walks.
Kinston cancelled by hurricane.
Low A: Urshela 2 hits, 237; Monsalve single, 2 walks, Levon Washington 0-2, walk, 215
MHV: Bryson Myles 2 hits
Arizona: Crowe single, double, triple, walk, .500; Greenwell single double, homer, .889; Aussie Catcher Mitch Nilsson 2 singles, double, 3 rb, 365, 20 years old; Castillo 2 hits, 3 bi 311; Juan ROmero 2 hits, 229, Robel Garcia single, walk

Pitching:

Kluber 7 3 2 2 2 7
Judy 1 1 0 0 0 1

delaCruz 2/3 0 0 0 1 2
Burns 1.2 0 0 0 1 3 save 33

Mahalic 3 0 0 0 4 0

Striz 3.2 6 4 4 4 4
McKeon 1.2 0 0 0 0 3 in Arizona he was 27 15 8 3 14 30, but he's 22

Merritt 2.1 5 1 1 0 2

LAke County shut out 2-0. Ronny Rodriguez with Error #36; BA tentative top 10 includes him about #6, which tells you something about his skills and tells you something about the weakness of our farm system. Danny Salazar first 2 innings in the Midwest League in 2011, 1 run. Kyle Wetmore 6 strong innnings, 1 run, 6 K.

Clippers ahead 3-0 on 2 doubles by Jared Goedert for the 3 rbi; Espino with 4 shutout innings. TJ McFarland with 3 shutout innings so far for Akron, he's walked 3. Kinston Irene'd out. Scrappers behind early. Arizonans with the day off.

Elvis Araujo leads the Arizona league with 9 wins; he's second in WHIP; 3rd in strikeouts. He's a 6-6 215 pound lefty, age 20; he missed the past 2 years so he's a little old for the league. Was considered a breakout candidate after his pro debut in the DSL in 08. We haven't had a great Latin pitcher develop for awhile. Rondon has been detoured. Same with Alexander Perez. Felix Sterling despite the name is another young man looking very good; he's working in the Midwest League; omit one real clunker and he's just over 2.00 ERA in his other 7 starts at age 18.

jake Lowery leads the NYPL both in doubles and in walks so his 243 batting average is not too significant.

Lots of last at bat decisions last night, everywhere outside of Columbus and Akron.

Clippers mangage 11-2 victory despite lack of most of their best hitters. 3 hits each by Mills, Nick Johnson and Goedert. Valbuena and Fedroff 2 apiece. Mitch Talbot solid 7 innings, 2 runs on 6 hits, no walks, 6 K. Langwell and Berger each a hitless walkless inning,

Aeros 6-4 winners. Jordan Henry 2 hits. Juan Diaz a 2rbi triple. Matt Packer rights himself after a 3-run 1st, lasts 8 innings, yield of 4 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks and 4 K. Anyone remember why Weglarz is on the DL this time? Third trip of the summer in a totally wasted season; hitting about 170 and never made it back to Columbus.

Kinston falls 3-2. Delvi Cid steals #27, batting 197. Solid 6 innings for small lefty FranciscoJiminez, 1 run on 4 hits,no walks, 4 strikeouts.

Luigi Rodriguez with 4 singles but Captains manage only 3 other hits and lose 2-1. LRod at 290 after a terrific U.S. debut in Arizona League; one of our top albeit teenage prospects. Michael Goodnight with a second straight good outing, 5 innings, 1 run on 3 hits, 2 walks 5 strikeouts. Cody Allen stays at 0.000 in the Midwest League, 1 inning, 2 K. Total is 28 K in 17 IP. Ronnie Rodriguez E37, Urshela E21

Scrappers fall in 13, 4-3. Hitters hit safely 5 times during the night, fanned 17 times.

Arizona season nearing its end. Robel Garcia three hits, include 10 th double. And makes his 12th error. 4-3 winners in 10.

Kinston Indians (Carolina League)

Last Kinston Indians Game Ever/Fan Appreciation Night, Sept. 2

This week's most poignant season finale will occur Friday at Grainger Stadium, as the Carolina League's Kinston Indians are playing their last-ever regular-season home game (the team is moving to Zebulon, N.C. in 2012). Thus ends Grainger Stadium's long Carolina League association; the K-Tribe played their first season in 1987, and professional baseball at the facility dates back to 1949. Friday's game features live music, fireworks and a bevy of fan giveaways, but of course the main reason to attend is simply to say goodbye. Or, more optimistically, "until we meet again." The K-Tribe's ownership has stated its desire to bring a new franchise to the city -- stay tuned.
