If righties can hit righties, why can't lefties hit lefties?
I think that lefties see so few lefties, that is part of it. Righties see righies.

"It's OK," Carmona said. "I threw on the mound like normal in a game. After that, I did some running. I feel good. I'm ready to go. Throwing on the mound, I felt very good. I was throwing strikes. My leg is strong."

But the brain is still weak.

Every first place team in baseball is winning right after the break. Well, all but Milwaukee.

Toronto has to be frustrated realizing they have won 5 in a row against division leaders, but haven't put a nick in their 10 game deficit to the Red Sox who have won 6 in a row.

If the Mets were not definite sellers before, they are now 12 out to Philly with the trade deadline within two weeks.

Texas has put Seattle back to 8 1/2 out, and the A's to 12 /2 out.

Some bubble teams are close to becoming likely sellers. The more the better.

I don't want him, another lefty. Same problem with Brian Giles or David Justice.

The Tribe should bring up Kipnis and see if he can handle batting second.

AC needs to be in the three hole.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports adds to the rumor that the Tribe is one of the teams interesting in pulling off a trade for Carlos Beltran. He says that the Mets are willing to pay the majority of the $6M still owed Beltran but that they expect a top prospect back in any deal.

Would the Tribe really trade a blue chip for 70+ games of Beltran?

Seems highly unlikely.

We could offer Josh Judy or Zach Putnam or Chen Lee, who's probably the best of the three if the Mets want a young quality reliever.

Gotta love this team. We are really building a fine pitching staff and infield. Lots of infield depth and relief pitching depth. We should be able to get a decent bat and I for one think dolan is willing to spend. Carmona and Sizemore are almost sure to come off the payroll early next season at the latest, Hafner only a year left although we might pick up his 2013 option if he is really healthy. Fans starting to come back. If we stay in the race 2M fans looks possible. That's 500K over budget. That should be what $20M? Plus one thing we always overlook is the TV ratings. They are up something like 80%. Lots of advertising bucks there.

Like him or not Dolan is a good businessman and knows that this years success is the biggest factor in next years revenue!!! I'd sure take a run at Beltran but would rather a longer term answer so we can dump Sizemore. He may not be done but he sure is done as far as being a middle of the order bat for the Indians. He looks worse than LaPorta....

It was 70 years ago today that Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak ended in Cleveland.
