Looking for more remote bright spots, at least this game lingered deep into the Dallas-Fort Worth night and should help to keep our guys closer to the team hotel this evening.

Dallas and particularly the "mid cities" have a lot of temptation to lure into the night.

That's where the umpire Steve Palermo got involved in being a good guy in a crime not so many years back and ended up getting shot and paralyzed outside a restaurant bar.

It's also where Don Drysdale and his friend were rolled by a couple of hookers and ended up losing their Rolex's.

Mickey Mantle also had a few less than stellar moments in the same area.

I know those were all a long time ago, but pretty sure the same strip clubs and the crime element looking for victims is still in that part of The Metroplex.

"Stats are stats" and "lies are lies" or something like that. I think Chris Perez is still 32-3 in his last 35.
Yeah, but he's obviously been a different pitcher since that 2-1 game we lost in Minnesota. That game was basically the beginning of our current cold spell. We haven't won consecutive games since then.

Plus, I've seen people citing his overall save percentage, which is still acceptable, but you can't ignore the 3 games he's lost in non-save situations. I think Perez is the only current closer in MLB who has 5 losses.

Not to mention it's been hot enough here (I'm about 2 hours east of Arlington) to make Gandhi pick up an AK-47 and start blasting. The high has been 100 or above for 6 straight weeks.

My gawd Man, two hours EAST of Arlington?

That's only about 1/2 way to "The Piney Woods" and certainly in a Texas region that would have "done ABC College Football announcers proud in" giving remote city names to mention along with what the player just did on the field on a Fall football Saturday afternoon.
