2 outs follow and then Will can only watch a ball fly way over his head and over the right field fence.
Morgan certainly is no longer our No. 1 setup man. Karinchak could be moving back to that role if he keeps up the good work.
Morgan WHIP still an impressive 0.84 or so. But he's looking too Tomlinesque with the long balls.
Anyway he finishes the inning and we win the series.
Re: GameTime!™
25713Surprise promotion: Hunter Gaddis to start tonight. Had a nice 1/2 season in Akron -- 4.24 but 12 homers in 76 innings; 2 better in Columbus. 10 innings, 3 runs, 5 walks, 12 strikeouts. Big kid 6-6 260 5th round pick in 2019.
Re: GameTime!™
25716Civale went 4 innings for Columbus 4 3 2 1 2 3
Pilkington 4 2/3 4 3 3 2 4
One of them will start in 5 days for the Guardians, I assume

Re: GameTime!™
25717Seems like they threw Gaddis to the wolves. Bring up a AA pitcher to face one of the best hitting teams in Baseball.

25718Couldn't agree more seagull. They are protecting the guys they care about more.seagull wrote:Seems like they threw Gaddis to the wolves. Bring up a AA pitcher to face one of the best hitting teams in Baseball.

Re: GameTime!™
25719the guy I don't understand they don't try out is Payton Battenfield, not a great prospect, but rated about No. 15 on most lists, and has been all year in Columbus. He's not a great prospect they're protecting but he's also a lot more talented than McCarty and Tully and more experienced than Gaddis.
Re: GameTime!™
25720All the Columbus OFs in the lineup today with Kwan out after getting by a pitch yesterday.

RF Gonzalez
DH Jones

Re: GameTime!™
25721After a nice 6 shutout innings by Q yesterday McKenzie excelled him with 8 2 hit 1 walk shutout innings. When he keeps the ball in the park McK can be that good anytime out. I love 1-0 games, especially when we win them.
[noting the best chance to add to the lead came in the 8th with 2 on and 2 out and Owen Miller left them on. Overall he's hitting 238; since a terrific April he's 56 for 269 .208/255 /297 Which is terrible. And since his only role now is at 1B it is even more appalling. Does he have options left? If so he goes to Columbus. If not, perhaps he is DFAd. Lots of other better fielding and probably better hitting infielders avaiilable on our roster.

Re: GameTime!™
25722I have been thinking of the Friday loss to Houston 9 - 3, and it actually comes down to 2 pitches, the Mancini homer with the bases loaded and the Jones strikeout with the bases loaded. Flip the outcome of those 2 pitches and the Guards win 7 - 5!!!!

Re: GameTime!™
25723Bieber follows suit with 7 shutout 4 hit 1 walk innings
Oscar a 2 run opposite field double (he’s totally unlike his minor league self: great coaching snd great listening)
Amed 3 hits 2 doubles
He and Kwan are great top of the order pair
Karinchak back in top form
Unfortunately Eli is not

Re: GameTime!™
25724Made it hard for themselves with all those great scoring opportunities wasted early but Civale survived 4 innings with 2 runs allowed and the bullpen came through, only Karinchak with a[ major] struggle.
Re: GameTime!™
25725If I had to guess which one Guardian was unvaccinated and therefore ineligible to enter Canada, Karinchak would have been an obvious first guess.
And lo and behold he's staying behnd while the team while Peyton Battenfield in tow as replacement heads north for the weekend.
Battenfield has been Columbus' best consistant starter this summer [superior to McCarty,. Tully and Gaddis all of whom have spent time with the G's] I guess that is because they're more concerned about using up his minor league options. This trip and return is exempt from all the traditional roster rules.
