Reyes isn't starting Monday against the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Reyes is getting a breather after he went 5-for-15 with two doubles, a run, a walk and six strikeouts over the last four games. Owen Miller will serve as the designated hitter and batting seventh.

That was an awful game. What happened to McKenzie? His ERA has ballooned over 4 and he keeps getting hammered with home runs.

Offense has gone back to sleep

Guess we need to get the team back on the road where they play much better.

The new pitcher of the day, Gibaut, wasn't bad, unlike Tully and Ramirez and Castro and McCarty before him. But he probably will be gone by the time today's game gets under way.

today's moves:

June 28: Guardians acquire C Sandy León from Reds; C Austin Hedges placed on concussion IL
Hedges began experiencing concussion-like symptoms after getting hit with a foul ball while catching on Saturday. Although he passed concussion protocols on Monday, the Guardians were not comfortable with playing him, considering he still had some symptoms. And because backstop Bryan Lavastida is on the IL in Triple-A Columbus, the team didn't have another catcher on its 40-man roster to call up, causing Cleveland to venture outside of the organization to bring back a familiar face in León to bridge the gap until Hedges is healthy. -- Mandy Bell

June 28: RHP Anthony Castro recalled from Triple-A; RHP Ian Gibaut designated for assignment
The Guardians have had to cycle through a handful of arms over the past few days to keep their bullpen healthy, especially ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader. In order to get a fresh arm on the big league roster, the team designated Gibaut for assignment and recalled Castro. -- Mandy Bell

June 28: LHP Konnor Pilkington added as 27th man
Pilkington was added as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Twins to make the start in the night cap of the twin bill in order to keep the Guardians' regular rotation on schedule. -- Mandy Bell

Pilkington continues to show he's not really an option for the rotation. The nightcap was just a total snooze. Oscar Gonzalez with a pair of doubles: he has 12 already was most of the offense.

Clement hitless is batting 189; versatile but really not much of an offensive talent.
Miller dropped to 250 and over his last 30 games he's hitting 223/276/291 and demonstrates his defensive shortcomings wherever he's stationed. King of the Sac Flies he will be much more helpful as a part-timer and pinch hitter.

Which add up to a sense that Freeman and/or Arias deserve some playing time this summer.

Now that was a very exciting finish! Naylor is quite a character and an awfully good clutch hitter.
After his terrible injury last year, it's great to see him doing so well.

BTW, Clevinger finally pitched a Clevinger-quality game for the Padres so they are getting something out of the totally unbalanced deal, too. Good for Clev. If he can avoid overdoing it he can be a top notch pitcher.
