Yeah I definitely think they go with Austin. Roberto's $7 million option is a non starter.

If Roberto comes back for, say, $1 million then I could see him coming back.

I agree. They will not pick up Roberto but renegotiate a contract at a lower price, probably closer to $3m. Two quality catchers with a killer pitching staff is worth it.

Since we're not the only team that knows the benefit of a quality catcher I think Perez could secure a multi year deal elsewhere.
He has the longest career with us going back to draft in 2008 but there's no reason he would give Cleveland a discount and also could be the primary rather than the shared catcher elsewhere.

Honestly if the team keeps Hedges, and I think they will, Perez is not worth more than $1 million to the Tribe (especially given the lack of offense on the team already and his inability to stay healthy) so I would agree with civ there - Perez could do quite a bit better elsewhere.

This is why I would have liked a Wilson Ramos type as our second catcher. Sound hitter for a catcher and still ok defensively. On a team with little hitting that plays as a backup at $1 million.

That said, bottom line is whatever moves the team makes to boost the offense. Thanks to a cheap rotation they should have resources - for once - for the offense. The more offense they add on the more they can afford the luxury of a defensive catcher.

Good work by Corey Kluber against an awfully woeful offense.

No support again for Plesac, two homers again off Plesac
The soon-to-be-gone Wittgren blew the game open with his 13th homer in relief. The relievers have been doing a terrible job of preventing inherited runners from scoring.
JC Mejia matched that home run total with 2

for 2022, Keep Clase. Keep Karinchak [he has 2 innings in Columbus]. Sandlin should be ready to go. That should be a good start to a decent pen.
Perhaps keep Parker. Perhaps keep Stephen but probably give him a chance to refine his stuff in AAA. Give Perez a chance; he was rated as best reliever in his AAA East league by the managers and coaches. Gose finally gets a look.

Garza is doubtful. Hentges and Mejia have natural talent but no success. Wittgren is done. Nelson and Young and Cam Hill can be DFAd. Good bye Scott Moss.
I guess Logan Allen Sr. stays on the roster for depth.

Last night's game was over before I got around to checking on it. I saw the final score, 8-0, and said to myself NO , not again"

I knew the pitchers were Plesac and Kluber so the no-no image flashed through my head.

Breathed a big sigh of relief when I saw in the box the Tribe big-bats pounded Kluber for 4 scorching singles.

Way to go!

Well Bradley has to show me more than the EXACT same hitter he was in the minors. Otherwise he is...Russell Branyan!

Chang at least makes more contact and plays more positions. I probably do like him better.

going on vacation and by the time I'm back the season will be over. It has been a glass half full, glass half empty season.
Trade results were positive'
500 record without much of Bieber and lots of Civale isn't bad.
Q and McK have secured spots in what again should be a stellar rotation in 2022.
Great closer; bullpen support questionable
Outfield remains in need o major help

And you know what? That freaking Harold Ramirez puts his bat on the ball. Not the modern ballplayer model of swinging for the fences. It works!

In some way, shape of form would like to see him back if nothing more than a 4th outfielder.

They should have named this team the Cleveland Roller Coasters.

Seems like it's all or nothing with this team.

Look like world-beaters some days and then get slapped around the next day.

I realize baseball has it's ups and downs but nothing like these guys.
