So the talk this afternoon on Drennan was speculation the Indians must like what they’re seeing from Kluber to trade Bauer when they are fighting for playoff spot.

Then during the game tonight announcers were talking with Andre Knott about same thing, and Andre said he was told Kluber looked fantastic in his last throwing session. They are expecting him back late August, maybe sooner.

And Manning brought up something interesting. He said Carrasco has been throwing and he thinks he might come back and help out of the bullpen before seasons end. I hadn’t thought of that, very interesting.

So if we make playoffs the rotation could be Kluber/Clevinger/Bieber/Plesac ... and have Carrasco and Salazar to help out of the pen. Maybe Karinchak in pen too, if he gets a September look and takes advantage of it. (Though he got smacked around in Columbus tonight)

Did anyone watch the game last night? I was at the game near home plate. It seemed like the ump squeezed Plesac in the first couple of innings. Any thoughts on the strike zone last night. I tried to watch the replay but it was not recorded. Thanks. (The Astros were not too happy as well.) Also, it looked like Carl Willis had some thoughts for the ump on 2 different mound visits.

I have thought this all along. Unlike a typical pitcher arm injury, this guy's elbow and shoulder are 100%. He got a cracked bone from a line drive - those heal.

So I think his shoulder and elbow are, if anything, strong and rested. And those are always the pitcher keys.

I don’t know if you remember, TFIR, but when Kluber first got hurt I posted that it might be a blessing in disguise. He didn’t start off very well this year and he has pitched a lot of innings in recent years. I thought the break (figuratively and literally) might do him some good, and he might be strong down the stretch and postseason.

Of course at the time I didn’t know Carrasco would be ill, Rodriguez would miss so much time, McKenzie would too, and Bauer would for sure be traded. Plesac has been a blessing this year.

Postseason Roster Rules & Eligibility
Definition
Per Major League Baseball's Collective Bargaining Agreement, players must meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for postseason play.

Any player who is on the 40-man roster or 60-day injured list as of 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 31 is eligible for the postseason.

Those on the restricted list at that point are also eligible if they haven't been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs during that season. (All players who have served a suspension for PEDs in a given season are ineligible for postseason play that year.)

A player who doesn't meet said criteria for postseason eligibility can still be added to a team's roster in the postseason via petition to the Commissioner's Office if the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing someone who is on the injured list and has served the minimum amount of time required for activation. (For example, a player on the 10-day injured list who has been on it for at least 10 days, or a player who has been on the 60-day injured list for at least 60 days.) Players who are acquired in September or after are ineligible.
Postseason roster rules
Teams submit a 25-man roster prior to each round of the postseason comprised of postseason-eligible players. A club may request permission from the Commissioner's Office to replace a player who is injured during the course of a series, but that player is then ineligible for the rest of that round and the subsequent round, if there is one. A pitcher may be replaced only by another pitcher, and a position player only by another position player.

Teams carry extra players throughout the postseason in the event of injuries, and those players, as well as players on the injured list, can be in the dugout during games, within reason.

Absolutely HB I do remember! And give Kluber a chance to re-set mentally as well.

And with Carrasco continuing to throw, he might be back in the mix really quickly if he goes to the bullpen.

Remember, the Red Sox became known last season for using starters in that bullpen in the postseason too.

Tell you what though, the upcoming schedule is so tough let's hope that all this makes a difference. And really, in a sense, the front office hedged their bets on THIS season by the huge trade. Bauer out but 2 big bats in. And 1 of those big bats for the long haul.

waiting for the word for the demotions; necessary if Reyes and Puig are available to play today. Indians.com is where I look for news and it's not usually the first place to find anything.

Not that they cleared spots on the 40 man roster not just by extending Carrascao and Otero IL terms to 90 days, but also by DFA'ing the Indians' April Superstar, Eric Stamets. He did get 2 hits before he returned to the minors so he'll always have those achievements to tell his grandchildren about.

YOU DID IT AGAIN HILLBILLY, I HIT SUBMIT AND YOU HAD SNUCK ERIC IN AHEAD OF ME..
it appears that Reyes and Puig are on the 40 man list now, unless I lost coutn.
