All this talk of bringing Mercado up and Zimmer coming back.....which outfielders get sent down to make room for them? Who plays CF? WE need bullpen help and utility help much more. That being said , I would like to see Mercado get a shot, speed kills.

Lou:

Greg Allen is still on active roster. I would bring Mercado up, and send Allen down.

Mercado would play every game against lefties. Split time with Martin/Naquin/Bauers in LF/CF otherwise. 4 guys, 2 positions. You can get them at bats. Go with hot hand.

Not to mention he was killing it in Arizona too! What does a guy have to do?

IF he comes up and kills it the front office can brag and say they knew it all along.

Yes, JRod has been surprisingly solid.

So maybe the front office made a couple good deals:

Connor Capel and the No. 2 rated prospect in the Arizona League for Mercado
Daniel Johnson who's hitting well for Akron and JRod for Gomes

On the other hand, Bauers for Yandy is not off to a great start. Someone taught Yandy how to get the ball up in the air and has 6 home runs.

Can't win them all.

Lucky HB didn't see it.

Perez threw out 2 batters including a key guy in the 8th.

And Jake Bauers with the game winning homer!

HB - only kidding, it's just one game. But for one game you gave the KISS of life!

HOUSTON — Trevor Bauer has a front row seat for what happens when base stealers try to take second against Cleveland Indians catcher Roberto Perez, and he has a message for those contemplating future attempts.

“Keep running, please,” Bauer said. “I enjoy it. Keep running, please.”

Said it before as well - if Jefry Rodriguez becomes a find (Daniel Johnson?), then it also decreases the hit from losing Gomes.

Jury is still out but more data coming in.

The six-year veteran has now thrown out 36% of would-be base stealers (4-for-11) and has a catcher ERA of 3.74 in 137 innings.

“I’ve been spoiled for sure,” Bauer said. “He’s amazing back there. The balls he blocks. Framing, throwing. Understanding hitters. Adjusting game plans. There’s no one I’d rather throw to.”
