Francisco Mejia - C - Padres

Making his first start for the Padres, Francisco Mejia homered twice and drove in four runs Thursday in a 6-2 win over the Reds.

The homers were the first of his career. He previously had 14 plate appearances with the Indians last year, four with the Indians this year and one with the Padres on Tuesday. Mejia hit 14 homers in 427 at-bats in Triple-A this year, so don't necessarily look at tonight's outburst as a sign of things to come for the short-term.

Sitting at the bar at the golf course today. Guy next to me nudges me and points at a lady that walked in with an Indians shirt on. I said "Go Tribe" and she looked at me and said are you an Indians fan ? Yep. She says my son in law plays for the Indians. I said really, who is he ? She says Ramirez. I say Jose ?

She says no, Neil !

Ohhhhhh, good to meet you !

But unless we get some consistency out of the bullpen there's no way this team can go far in October.
Lol, if only it was that simple. But I can propose a simple alternative to that...

Kluber, Carrasco and Bieber/Clev (or Bauer even) pitch great and far enough into games for our reliable guys to take over.

And I include Oliver Perez in there.

So Perez, Cody, Hand and Miller (and Cimber for a righty batter here and there) could easily do well in a series where off days are much more common. And if the starters just give them 6-7 good innings it's very doable.

And our starters are more than capable of having that kind of series against anyone.
