11791Yes, and this manager is not afraid of brining up youngsters to see what they can do.
I was very optimistic about this team going as far back as spring training. I thought we had a chance to be this close at the break. In fact, there were only two of us that voted 86-90 wins this year. That should be good enough to get us a shot at the playoffs and a good chance at a division championship. Numerous times during the season, I expressed my opinions on why I thought so. Hopefully, we'll add a couple of new faces before the trade deadline that will make us stronger and keep us in contention the rest of the year. Personally, I'd like to see a reliable starter added to the rotation and I'd also like to see another versatile player with speed coming off the bench.And...the Tigers lost! Scherzer suffered his first loss, and we move to 1.5 games out. So, the worst we can do is fall back to 2.5 games back at the All Star break. How many here expected THAT at the beginning of the season?

I mean, it's OK if they want to honor his achievements in NY over the years, but no way was he the key to the win tonight.
Yankees are only 3 games out of 2nd wildcard.civ ollilavad wrote:I agree. Good way to honor him at the end of his career. No postseason opportunities for Rivera this year.
