Trivia, Mark Shapiro completely re-tooled and masterfully rebuilt The Cleveland Indians with his masterful trade of Bartolo Colon over 120 moons ago. That's "months" for those of you lacking Native American blood. Over ten wigwam years, at any rate.

(that masterful Shapiro trade lore might have been a "fractured fairy tale")

Oh My!!!

Does this team suck?

Better ball being played at the Little League World Series.

Japan has a 12 year old that throws 80 mph from 46 feet. That's equivalent to a 105 mph fastball at the Major League level. He's on ESPN2 tonight at 7 EDT.

Thank goodness Mark Shapiro is Our President and roster and organizational talent and development architect of the past decade.

He'll find a way to do something to improve.

Quitting is my first suggestion.

But wait, our team has already done that.

Of all the dismal years of Indians baseball, save the John Hart era, this year could take the cake for the biggest and hardest and most dismal fall.

Charlie T points out elsewhere around here today that Carlos Carrasco is expected back to pitch next season for a point of possible optimism. It would be wonderful if he could also hit and field another position on his non pitching days.

I guess it really is the pitching that is our biggest hole to dig out of; PD article reminds us that the As are hitting .20 points worse than the Tribe yet are in the thick of the wild card race. I have no idea where we will come up with a No. 1 or No. 2 starter to fit in with a collection of middle and back of rotation guys like Masterson, Jiminez, Hernandez, McAllister, Gomez, Tomlin, Kluber and Carrasco.

Carrasco does have more upside than most of the rest, but can't expect immediate miracles upon return from TJ surgery.

AAA and AA offer some other nice mid-rotation option in McFarland, Packer, House, Soto, Salazar, but not better than that.

Well, it was a great weekend for kayaking and fishing although the river is at an all-time low due to the drought in the mid-west. Lot of Eagles and Hawks along the river getting in some fishing on their own. Highlight of the weekend was seeing an Eagle swoop down to land a nice looking fish. I beached the kayak to watch him devour the fish and then spread his wings in the breeze to dry his feathers. I'm glad is missed Cleveland baseball this weekend. Didn't sound like much fun.

He's pitching well for the Royals. Big mistake going to Colorado.
