Most Bogart and Cagney movies catch my eye. I always enjoyed The Petrified Forest, and earlier last week watched Cagney in Yankee Doodle Dandy.
For many years I went out of my way to be sure to watch "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on The 4th of July. In recent years I've usually made certain to catch at least parts of "Independence Day." I like being able to laugh, and to be able to feel patriotic. I like to see live fireworks hopefully from water on the 4th of July, and to cap it off with The Boston Pops 4th and the show on The Mall in Washington to end the day.

I have "Yankee Doodle Dandy" around here somewhere in an unopened moving box. I'll try to find it this week.

MLB.TV lost the game for the final out.
MLB.TV was widely f***ed for most of the games last night. I eventually stopped trying and just listened on XM radio. I don't know exactly where the problem is, but since my "contract" is with MLB it's MLB that I shall call a bunch of bad names.

I received an email from mlb.tv today apologizing for the problem that took them down. The email included a code to for a 40% discount for any item at the mlb.com shop for the inconvenience to customers.

Late edit:

I went with this using the 40% discount:

I checked on the game at the gym this afternoon and saw we were down 10-4 in the 4th, so I didn't tune in.

I was surprised to see we made it respectable with a final of 11-9.

Fortunately, the ChiSux and Tiggers lost as well, and we remain in 2nd place just three games out.

August is now just two weeks away.

Late edit:

Oh, geez. Now I see it was Aaron "frickin" Laffey who picked up the win for Toronto.
