Cleveland has not yet announced which pitcher will be promoted to assume Wheeler's spot in the bullpen. Four candidates at Triple-A Columbus include right-handers Jeremy Accardo, Hector Ambriz, Frank Herrmann and Chris Ray.loufla wrote:Well, Wheeler is gone now.......who do we bring up?

7728Since Wheeler was DFA they have a spot on the roster. That menas they can add Accardo, Ray or Ambriz. I I guess they pick Accardo; he seemed close to making the cut before they signed Ascencio.
Supposedly we have lots of relief pitcher depth, but Lee is on the DL, Putnam is in Colorado, Stowell is on the Akron DL, and Bryson is stalled (although putting up good numbers) with the Aeros. Scott Barnes is now a reliever, but he's only had a couple one inning outings since a brief stay on the Columbus DL.

7729Yesterday's blow out gave the Indians a chance to rest Cabrera. Hannahan with an inning or two at SS. In his career he'd played 1 previous major league inning at short and a dozen minor league appearances. I would prefer to have Donald around since he also gives them a RH option at 2nd and 3rd and LF.
Re: GameTime!™
7731Accardo contract purchased from Columbus. That now makes 3 veteran relievers who we've tried for the two spots at the back of the bullpen. While one rookie, Hagadone, has made the grade.

Wheeler was not a very good pitcher for us. I am one that will not be sorry to see him leave.

7733Wheeler was a Rhode Island kid that got to play in the show for quite a few years. Unfortunately, he flamed out as a member of the Tribe.
At least they DFA'd him 50 miles from home. Didn't have a long way to go.
