The local Miami press has run some articles on how out of place the new stadium seems against the surrounding old Miami neighborhoods mostly of Little Havana.
I hadn't caught until recently the new stadium is on the site of the original Orange Bowl (as the Jacksonville Jaguar stadium is on the site of the original Gator Bowl). I went to many Dolphin games at the Orange Bowl back in the late 70's and early 80's.
I was also at The Orange Bowl on January 4, 1986 in the days of Kosar, Newsome, Byner and Mack. Some guy named Marino played for the other team, and we lost.
I also made the trip to the original Orange Bowl to see my South Carolina Gamecocks lose to the Miami Hurricanes on a Miami December night so cold that hot chocolate and blankets were in great demand in the stands.
The Orange Bowl was always a bitch to get to, and to find parking. I hope it's improved for the new stadium.
