I didn't realized the game was on until late in the afternoon, my time. I had errands to run and had the game on the truck radio. I pulled into the parking lot of our local Big 5, a sporting goods retail chain in The Western US as the Ranger 11th was happening.

I decided to sit in the truck in the parking lot until the 11th was over.

Once I realized the Nelson Cruz walk off granny......first in post-season history.......had won the game, I opened the truck door and got out to go into the store.

Doors on two other vehicles that had been parked opened up at the same moment and we all walked into the store together.

Both were apparently father and son pairs.

It was cool to realize apparently some people just love baseball well enough to listen to teams in the post season for which they likely had little regular season allegiance.

And let us remember that CharlieT is a pretty recently adopted Texas Ranger Fan to some degree.

I considered myself fortunate to be able to celebrate on the San Francisco Giant bandwagon after last year's World Series clinch.

It felt good, of course no way as good as it will feel if the Cleveland Indians ever win the whole thing.

I hope Charlie can get a little fun out of this Ranger Ride.

I'm sort of pulling for a Rangers-Brewers World Series. I'd think of it as the "Guns and Beer" series. Of course it it's the Rangers-Cardinals it could be the "Guns and Birds" series.

Neat story, CALI.
Judging by the dearth of posts lately, I don't think many of the regular posters here are following the postseason.

J.R.

I figure that if I ran home from school to catch the World Series games final innings of the afternoon on television in the 1960's, I sure should pay attention at least a little attention to the post season still now.

I had a transistor radio with an ear piece in my gym shorts in 8th grade gym class during the final school day period of October 16, 1969.

I guess I truly had some junk in my (gym) trunks.

As I recall, The '69 Mets clinched right around the time the end of the school day bell rang.

I know I was in the gym or the locker room listening to the final out. It might have been just after school. I know Coach Staats acquiesced and asked for play by play when he realized I had a radio.

If postseason baseball stays on TBS and TNT it will kill itself. No one accidentally ends up on those stations. Ask Conan.

Last night was the first day that anyone in my house knew that baseball was still on. Why ? They could not get their regular Fox show.

Whoever is covering the Tigers/Rangers game are morons.

bottom of the fiftth with two on ......Cabrerra is up....all they are talking about is Martinez being injured.....Cabrerra goes to get a hit to score the go ahead run and stll all they are concerned about is how the pitcher is gonna pitch to Martinez......barely a mention that the Tigers took the lead on Cabrerra's hit.

Whatever....
Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

Fister's awesome. If the Tigers were to choose an MVP from that team, Fister would be my choice.

I can't bring myself to sit down and watch this 2011 World Series pitch by pitch yet, but I've had it on.

These first two have been well played games.

Nail biters for fans of Texas and St. Louis.

It's essentially a five game series from this point, with three games at Texas and two games in St. Louis.

In my 30 years in Columbus, a Cleveland team played for a championship all of 3 times (all losses). Now I've been in East Texas for less than a year, and a Dallas-Fort Worth team has already played for a championship twice, with one win and one "to be determined."

At least now I know it wasn't me...

The Rangers are more a passion for the girlfriend and her family, but I have a mild rooting interest. And since everyone is tired of me making fun of the Cowboys, it's nice to be able to share something with them sports-wise. (Side note: It's amazing to realize that if the Rangers win the World Series, the Cowboys will be the Dallas team that's gone longest without winning a title. The current holders of that honor in Boston? The Patriots, who are merely the winningnest team of the century thus far. Some cities have all the damn luck.)

That was a narrow escape last night...I'm still trying to get over the intentional walks to Nick Punto in Game One. Doesn't Washington remember Punto from his time in the American League? If there are two outs, men in scoring position, and Nick Punto at the plate, you don't walk him to force the pitcher to hit so you can start the next inning with the top of the order (or, uh, bring on a pinch hitter who wins the game for your opponent). You give thanks for your good fortune.
